keaton webb | interview 04

Keaton is so cool, guys. He's such an inspiration to me in my faith and his passion for life is killer. So excited to have him on the blog today!
Find him here: blog + twitter + instagram + tumblr + facebook

Hey everyone! I'm Keaton Webb, titled by people I know as "the photographer" or "the hipster indie kid" or just "Keaton," the latter being my top choice. Fun fact: My parents almost named me Spider and my sister Charlotte. A little much right? Secretly I think Spider sounds like it'd be a pretty rad nickname but I have yet to ever been called that.

I'm a seventeen year old man with the soul of a hundred years. I wish I was a brilliant poet, but for now photography is the only thing I've been complimented on so I'm taking my talents in steps. I'm a lover of people. People are my thing. Their emotions tend to seep down through my skin and I just feel for them and I am constantly wanting to capture that greatness inside everyone.

eat
You'll probably laugh but you know those little oranges called Cuties from those supermarket commercials? Well I'm crazy about them. I probably eat 10 a day, no lie. Other than that I've always been a fan of Olive Garden and their KILLER breadsticks and salad dressing. Next time you go, try dipping the bread in the dressing, it makes all the difference in the world.

sleep
Okay this will need a bit of explaining. I've always had an eye for art, even when others don't see it. And as I show others my room I've begun to see that in action. My room is all black and white. It is also a collection of repurposed items. (Huh?) I have a door as a desk, wine racks to hold my magazines, a ladder to reach my books, a fence as a header for my bed, and a toilet as a bedside table. Do not freak, these items have never been "used" before and were mostly bought from Ikea. So that's my room and all that comes along with it. I find so much more creativity in the everyday since having revamped my room and I'm constantly altering different things in it.

read
My favorite book/series that I've read so far is actually the Hunger Games. Don't shoot me, I know everyone is obsessed with it and all the little teenagers are going crazy and it's the some sort of new Twilight-ish craze. I swear I read it before any of that ever happened! A close friend had actually recommended them to me back in 2009 and I instantly was hooked. Sometimes I wish a fight to the death was necessary for survival, and then other times I'm just relieved that I live in the peace-making country that I do. The soundtrack for the film has some inspiring artists on it too, so if you haven't listened, go listen! At the moment I am currently reading the Great Gatsby, mostly because the movie looks amazing and I'm enjoying the soundtrack for it as well.

wear
I used to not care at all what I wore, but some newer styles have really stuck out to me and I'm beginning to catch on. Urban Outfitters has some neat clothing, but some of it can be very loud and obnoxious. I also enjoy American Apparel and H&M.

listen
Music for me is a very unique way of self-expression. I am not talented with musical instruments whatsoever, but I'm complimented on my taste in music and art in general quite frequently. At the moment my top playlist consists of Daughter, Woodkid, and Bon Iver. My favorite tunes vary a lot though. One day I'm in to The xx, Youth Lagoon, The Lumineers. Other days it's Best Coast, Vampire Weekend, Two Door Cinema Club, and a bit of Lana Del Rey. Music is so diverse and so customizable, and that's why I love it. There is literally something for every single soul on the planet.

wild card
My goal is to travel. You heard people is my thing? Well travel is my other thing. I envision myself in my 20s, living in a small studio apartment in Europe, with a dog and myself. Making good friends, photographing good people, and eating good food. ☼

josie alex | interview 03

Happy April Fools, guys! Pull any hilarious pranks today? I must confess, the prank I pulled today with a friend was big and successful ;) But enough about pranks: Josie is greater than any prank ever could be. Not only is she gorgeous, she has an amazing sense of fashion and is an insanely talented musician. And let's all just gush about her room a second: slkdfjsdlkjflkf. She's just an all around cool person, and I'm so happy to have her on the blog today.

Hello! I'm Josephina Hope Alex, but on most websites I go by Josie Hope or Josie Alex. And the first thing you should know about me is that I'm terrible at writing about myself. There is just something so difficult about encompassing a whole character and then describing it with words. So we should just meet sometime. Sound good?
The second thing is my age. I'm sixteen going on seventeen. (Sound of Music, anyone?) I'm a student at Veritas Press Scholars Academy, and I also dual enroll at a local university.
Even though school keeps me pretty busy, I make time to occasionally photograph an outfit. I document those photos on my tumblr blog, which started out as a 365. Even though I've had it for over a year, I've kept the simplicity of the "1:365" format to avoid writing. Sometimes I also post a few words from someone who said something better than I could. I started the blog for a few far away friends who wanted to see more "OOTD" pictures. It isn't the most important thing in my life, so I've kept it very relaxed and have definitely enjoyed everything I'm learning from having it.

eat
Lately, I've been playing with juicing, gluten free eating, and vegan dieting. However, I've been a vegetarian for years. I love all different sorts of food, and recently this recipe adapted into tacos, nachos, and salads has been a favorite. I have a bit of an excessive Pinterest habit, but in my defense, I do actually make a lot of the recipes from my "f o o d" board.

sleep
One of my dreams growing up was to have a four poster bed. So when we remodeled our home, I stuck a giant IKEA four poster bed in my room. And I haven't looked back since.

read
One of my favorite books is Till we Have Faces, C.S. Lewis. For many reasons, I always think of that book when I have to make a list. I will also always be a Harry Potter nerd.

wear
Everything. I don't have a specific style. I'm entranced by bohemian looks one day, preppy the next, and after that vintage or tribal. It's always different.

listen
My music tastes are all over the place just like my style. I have a super big crush on Justin Timberlake, but at the same time Lykke Li is too much fun. Some of the older bands I love are Fleetwood Mac (Gold Dust Woman) and the Beatles (I've Just Seen a Face). I listen to a lot of classical and fiddle music too because I play the violin.

wild card
I recently cut off 13 inches of my (virgin) hair. I miss it dearly.

emilyann paige | interview 02

I am so so excited to feature Emilyann on the blog today! She has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever had the pleasure of hearing (my favorites are Thimble and Riddles and Tea). But not only does she have a gorgeous voice, but she's so dang talented in everything else she does. Oh, and she has a stellar taste in books and music (John Green and Sylvia Plath, anyone?)
Find her here: youtube + twitter + pinterest + instagram.

My name is Emilyann, but on my YouTube channel, I go by “Lark”. I'm an eighteen year old singer/songwriter. I have a serious Pinterest problem and I have seen Mean Girls too many times. I grew up on peanut butter and jellies and Matilda. Nice to meet you.
I like to think that I'm a bit of a bard. I am very inspired by literature and Greek mythology. I find it very difficult to write songs about my own personal experiences, so I end up writing the majority of my songs about fictional characters. Somehow, at the end of the songwriting process, I've communicated my own story as well as the story the song is about. That's the great thing about feeling and music and life in general. You're never the first person to feel what you're feeling. As Morrissey once said, “If I feel it, then others surely must. That’s the only thought that sustains me.”
I started my channel in October of 2012 as a way to share my music with as many people as I could reach. The name stems from a compliment I received at an open mic I did in Idaho. After I finished performing Thimble, the barista looked up and told me I had the voice of a song bird. It was a good day and I never wanted to forget it. It also comes from the song “Green Finch and Linnet Bird” from my favorite musical Sweeney Todd. If I cannot fly let me sing.

eat
I am a vegetarian, so that keeps things interesting. Right now I'm really enjoying meatless chili and my mom's homemade bread. And of course Tazo's Passion tea before bed (in a pretty mug).

sleep
Right now, I'm working on a quilt for my bed at college. It's my new favorite blanket, and I have really enjoyed the process of making it.

read
I am a big John Green fan, (DFTBA, nerdfighters!) and I recently picked up Paper Towns. I love it so far. As for all time favorite books, I love Jane Eyre and The Bell Jar.

wear
Big black boots are my “thing”. I also love plaid flannels and leggings.

listen
I'm super into Josh Garrels. For obvious reasons, his song “Ulysses” has inspired me more than any other. I recently got his documentary box set about his trip to create an EP with Mason Jar Music on an island in Canada. I cannot wait to watch it. My favorite songs at the moment are “Stay” by Shakespear's Sister, and a cover of Fleetwood Mac's “Dreams” by Bastille and Gabrielle Alpin. Both are haunting and beautiful. I'm also really inspired by Stevie Nicks, Keaton Henson, The Cranberries, Vanessa Carlton, the Smiths, and Daughter.

wild card
I try to live my entire life as an art. As well as music, I love reading books and poetry, painting, photography, journaling, scrapbooking, and putting montages to music, and basically just creating things. The arts are important to me, I'm even writing my thesis on why the arts are important in the Church and Christian life.
