today.
Today, it was Friday, my favorite day of the week (What's your favorite day?).

ready for tea? {35/365}

Today, I took pictures of a vintage floral tea cup - I rather like how this one turned out.

self portrait of the day.

Today, I wore a pretty hair clip kindly sent to me by this shop.

cinnamon coffee cake.

Today, I ate cinnamon coffee cake for lunch. Oh yes I did.

my desk: before and after.

Today, I cleaned off my desk. It was way overdue ;)

Today, I turned this pile of hearts cut out of newspaper into...

...this.

my sandwich.

Today, I had a sandwich filled with butter, salami, cheese, and lettuce for a snack. I know, coffee cake for lunch and a sandwich for a snack...I'm a little mixed up ;)

a little geometry.
Today, I did geometry homework. I could have lived without it.

gentle snowfall.

Today, I watched it snow. And snow. And snow. Like we really needed more. ;)

i love snow days.
snow dusted wood pile.

Snow days are the best. Sleeping in then lounging around in pajamas until you finally convince yourself to get dressed to go outside in the snow...with your camera in tow, of course.

beautiful blue skies.
my boots.

Although, if you go outside with the intention of getting some photographs, I recommend not hopping over a chain link fence. Because then your snow pants and boots might get caught which means landing face first in the snow, one leg still on top of the fence, with your camera buried under you.

our street buried in snow.
ice encrusted rose bush.

Frantic with worry about your camera, you'll probably focus on that and not the leg that's still on the fence, which will result in a pulled muscle. It will also result in torn snow pants and a wet camera (both of which will be fortunately salvageable). Yep, I don't recommend it at all. Not that I would know anything about any of this. Ahem.

lilly in the snow.

But seeing this sweet little girl bundled up so tightly she could hardly walk made me forget about a certain sore leg.

I digress.

snow (after being played in).

Of course, no snow day is complete without a romp in the fluffy white substance. From screeches of laughter to cold snow making its way into coats and slithering down backs to building forts, there's no shortage of entertainment.

After hands become numb and cheeks turn rosy red from the cold, stumbling into the house - and creating a wet mess from all the snow still clinging to coats - for hot chocolate by the fire is always welcome.

our backyard.
pretty patterns made by the wind.

Even though we're snowed in, if every day is like this, I wouldn't mind being stuck forever.

Well, maybe not forever. But I'm definitely fine with the few days we'll still have at home.

homemade cinnamon rolls.

And any day that includes homemade cinnamon rolls plus snow is a good day.

If you received snow, what did you do on your snow day?

on cloud nine
winter wonderland

I mentioned on embrace that we were expecting a snow storm...but I really didn't think what the weathermen were predicting would come true.
After sleeting a good portion of Monday night and early Tuesday morning, the precipitation eventually changed into snow. I woke up yesterday morning to a blizzard. I'm serious - I could barely see past the backyard.
By the time the snow slowed down, we had well over fourteen inches (a record) with drifts up to three feet tall (Correction: I've just been informed that drifts got up to six feet). Now this may not sound like much to those of y'all who live in frigid places like Minnesota, but to us southern folks it's no small amount.
Being Oklahomans, we really don't know how to handle snow, and everything is closed until at least tomorrow, if not until Saturday. And the state is under an emergency. Only in Oklahoma does it shift seventy seven degrees to blizzard conditions (getting all the way down to wind chills of seven below) in a matter of forty eight hours.

Did you get any snow?

Is there a photo that makes you happy? One that warms your heart or tells a funny story? One that puts you on cloud nine? Here's your chance to share it!

Just put up a post on your blog containing one photo that you've taken. You can add as much or as little text as you would like along with it. After writing your post, come back here to link up - you have until Thursday at 9:59pm CST to do so. Don't forget to link back to me so others can join in, whether it be via the above button or a link. :) And remember to visit others' photos as well!

outfit: premature spring

(This is totally weird and random and maybe even slightly creepy, but do you see that little beauty mark on the side of my neck? I love it. Told you it was a bit odd. ;))

Scarf: Target
Cardigan: Target
Tank top: Target (Yes...a bit Target obsessed, are we?)
Belt: Thrifted
Jeggings: American Eagle
Sandals: Academy

We had such perfect weather this weekend I couldn't resist getting all spring-y, even if it is a bit premature, with it being January and all. Boots? Who needs those? Sandals all the way, baby. And the cardigan and scarf quickly found their way off after sitting in the warm sun - which is another thing I love about this outfit. It's super versatile...the scarf and sweater along with long pants are a welcome addition when it gets a bit chilly, but when it warms up, they can be discarded and you practically have a new outfit.
Can we talk a minute about my tank top? That thing is my favorite at the moment. I love the fact that it's grey and I adore the subtle floral print. And the best part - I found it for a whole two dollars. Clearance racks are my favorite. Have you found any good deals lately?
Sadly, we're back in the full swing of winter again, so any thoughts of discarding sweaters is gone. In fact, it's supposed to snow tomorrow. Sad face. But the spring weather was welcome while it lasted, even if it only fueled my desire for spring to come as quickly as possible ;)

Happy Monday!
